At least six fishermen were killed and more than 500 others missing after boats capsized in stormy conditions off the southern coast of Sri Lanka Saturday, officials said. A search operation by the navy and air force had rescued at least 20 people, the Disaster Management Centre said. Rain and winds exceeding 80 kilometres per hour were pounding the coastal areas between the capital Colombo and the popular tourist destinations in the south-eastern district of Matara, according to a report of DPA.
