Japan and France agreed today to convene a meeting between the foreign and defense ministers of the two countries to discuss security and defense cooperation, with plans to start bilateral talks on joint development of defense equipment and export control of such equipment. Japanese KYODO news agency quoted a joint statement issued after a summit meeting between French President Francois Hollande and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as saying the two sides agreed that Japan and France would promote exports of nuclear power plants to emerging economies.
