A Northern Ireland man was arrested for allegedly leading police on a bogus emergency call and then ambushing them with grenades, UPI quoted authorities as saying. The unidentified suspect, 25, called in a bogus emergency Tuesday morning in Belfast and hurled two grenades at police when they arrived. The officers dove behind their patrol car and were unharmed. Police said the man was taken into custody in a British suburb of Shrewsbury early Saturday and returned to Northern Ireland to face charges, The Guardian reported. The violence comes about two weeks before Northern Ireland hosts a G8 summit that has brought a heavy police presence to the area -- including about 8,000 officers, many brought in from England and Wales -- to provide additional security.
