At least 75 people were killed and over 200 injured in a series of car bombings that hit Baghdad on Monday, news agencies quoted Iraqi security and medical officials as saying. Car bombs exploded in ten different districts of the Iraqi capital, hitting busy markets. Traffic disappeared from the streets in the wake of the explosions and shops and markets pulled down their shutters, fearing further blasts, witnesses said. Army and police deployed across the city and traffic police ordered owners to remove parked vehicles. The United Nations said April was the deadliest month in Iraq since June 2008, with more than 700 people killed and 1,600 wounded.
