The African Union celebrates its golden anniversary Saturday with a special summit in Ethiopia. On May 25, 1963, Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie and 31 of the continent's other leaders came together in the capital Addis Ababa to form the Organization of African Unity (OAU). It became the African Union (AU) in 2002. In addition to most of Africa's heads of state, many other foreign dignitaries will attend, including: US Secretary of State John Kerry and French President Francois Hollande. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso are also expected to attend celebrations in Addis Ababa. In the evening, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn is hosting a gala dinner. Today, six of the 10 fastest-growing economies in the world are in Africa, according to a report of DPA.
