A huge fire broke out Thursday at a fuel depot in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with television images showing bright orange flames leaping high into the air and thick black smoke rolling off six large fuel storage tanks. There was no immediate indication of any injuries or what might have sparked the fire, which broke out on the northern outskirts of the city in a mostly industrial area. Firefighters were seen about a block away from the blaze, which appeared too intense for them to approach closer.
