Malawi President Joyce Banda lived up to her promise and sold off the presidential jet, officials in the cash-strapped nation said Tuesday, according to dpa. The 14-seat plane was sold for 15 million dollars to Bohnex Enterprise Ltd, a company based in the Virgin Islands, as part of Banda's efforts to get Malawi's financial house in order. The plane was bought by Banda's predecessor Bingu Wa Mutharika, who died last year while in office. Mutharika paid 22 million dollars for the French-made Dassault Falcon 900EX in 2009 and said it would be an "asset" for his country, one of the poorest and least developed in the world. -- SPA 23:37 LOCAL TIME 20:37 GMT تغريد
