Bangladesh issued an alert Saturday to seaports and fishing boats in the Bay of Bengal as a big storm headed towards its south-eastern coast, according to dpa. The meteorological department in Dhaka said Cyclone Mahasen, with a maximum wind speed of 88 kilometres per hour, was likely to intensify further and make landfall on the Bangladeshi coast by Tuesday. The storm was centred Saturday about 1,600 kilometres south-west of Bangladesh's southern tip, Cox's Bazar.
