The US will donate an additional 100 million dollars in humanitarian assistance to the Syrian opposition, the State Department announced Wednesday. The amount brings to 510 million dollars the total amount of humanitarian assistance from the US to the opposition, State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell said at a press briefing. "We've certainly upped our assistance to the opposition," Ventrell said. "This is in the context of the upward trajectory of our millions of dollars of non lethal assistance. " The additional aid to the Syrian opposition is in line with US Secretary of State John Kerry's plan to increase aid and make it clear to Syrian Bashar al-Assad regime "that he needs to reassesshis calculation."
