Heavily armed men on Tuesday attacked a police station in north-eastern Nigeria, killing several police officers and civilians, dpa quoted the Nigerian Premium Times newspaper as reporting. The group used rocket-propelled grenades in the attack in Borno State, the report said. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Borno State is a stronghold of the militant Boko Haram sect that opposes Western education and culture and has been waging an insurgency in Africa's most populous nation for several years.
