Kerry Selects New Afghanistan Envoy

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry Friday said he has selected a veteran American diplomat to be the new U.S. special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Kerry said in a statement that he chose Ambassador James Dobbins because of his "deep and long-standing relationships in the region."
Kerry called the leaders of Afghanistan and Pakistan Friday to inform them of his decision.
