The European Union should make it easier for workers to move from one member state to another, the bloc's top employment official said Friday, dismissing concerns in some countries about migration and its impact, dpa reported. "Sometimes we do have the fear that the discussions might be just a little bit inflated because of domestic political reasons," EU Employment Commissioner Laszlo Andor said, speaking also of "scare-mongering." He argued that the EU's free movement of labour actually leads to "a win-win situation," with both workers and member states benefiting economically. Andor proposed to give EU migrant workers more administrative and legal recourses in cases of discrimination - notably based on nationality - and to make sure that foreign workers and their employers are better informed about EU rights. He argued that the move is all the more justified because Europe's economic crisis has caused labour imbalances, with some countries facing record unemployment while others search for skilled workers. But certain member states have grown uneasy about migration amid allegations that some migrants only want access to social benefits. -- SPA 18:24 LOCAL TIME 15:24 GMT تغريد
