The Kingdom of Bahrain's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Rowai'i, reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain's permanent, firm stance vis-à-vis the Palestinian cause, on the basis of the urgent need to implement UN Security Council's and UNGA's resolutions, respect international references at the forefront of which is the Arab Peace Initiative, accentuating that hard work should be exerted in order to find a permanent, comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue with a viable, independent, sovereign state with its capital being in the holy city of Eastern Al-Quds and he urged the international community to bear its responsibilities and to immediately move in order to lift the siege from Gaza Strip and alleviate suffering off the Palestinian people. This came as the Bahraini ambassador spoke to the UN Security Council during an open discussion on the Middle East issue yesterday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Ambassador Al-Rouwai'i said that Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa made it clear during the Arab Summit held recently in Qatar, that the past period saw a number of developments and transformations which provide new atmospheres and firm foundations for the Middle East peace process on the basis of the two-states' solution with a viable, independent and sovereign Palestinian State on its national territories with its capital being in the holy city of Al-Quds. According to BNA, the Bahraini ambassador to the United Nations added that the Bahraini King indicated the need to adopt new methodology for a just, comprehensive peace process in the region and to revive its mechanisms on all routes stalled because of Israel's constant rejectionist position in defiance of international resolutions. He urged friends in the world community to an agreed and coordinated move in order to implement international referential legacies and the Arab Peace Initiative which had been adopted by the Beirut Summit in 2002 and the principle of land-for-peace and ending Israeli occupation which began in 1967 and to stop Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian territories (OPTs) starting with the holy city of Al-Quds. The Ambassador said that the Middle East peace is not one of many choices but the sole historic choice in order to serve the interest of both the Palestinian and the Israeli peoples and at the same time in order to maintain regional and international peace and security.
