Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi said Saturday he would reshuffle his Islamist-led government, a move designed to ease tensions with the opposition, dpa reported. "This change will not be carried out under any pressure, but its aim is to serve the public interests," Morsi said in an interview with the Qatari news broadcaster Al Jazeera. The Egyptian opposition has repeatedly called upon president Morsi to replace the incumbent government with a caretaker cabinet to guarantee that parliamentary elections, expected later this year, will be fair and free. In the interview, Morsi did not say if he would also replace Prime Minister Hesham Qandil, another demand of the opposition. "The change will affect several ministerial portfolios."
