Pakistan's former strongman Pervez Musharraf was put under house arrest Friday to await trial over terrorism allegations that he described as "politically motivated." Musharraf was remanded for two days by a court Friday, one of his lawyers Qamar Afzal said, and escorted back to his farm house residence in an Islamabad suburb. An earlier report that he turned himself in to the court was denied by state-run Radio Pakistan, which said he "was arrested this morning and produced before a judicial magistrate. " On Thursday he was whisked away by his private security before the police could detain him, after Islamabad High Court ordered his arrest and prosecution in connection with his treatment of judges under emergency rule imposed in 2007.
