The prime minister of the Central African Republic (CAR), which has seen clashes and looting since last month's rebel coup, appealed Wednesday for military help from France and regional countries. According to dpa, CAR premier Nicolas Tiangaye has called on former colonial power France and the regional peacekeeping force Fomac for help in a televised address, French radio RFI reported. This comes as about 20 people were killed in clashes between former rebels and citizens in the capital Bangui over the weekend.
