A driver was killed and his assistant injured Sunday when unknown gunmen attacked a lorry carrying NATO goods in Pakistan's north-western tribal region, officials said. Manzoor Khan, an official from the political administration office, told dpa that the gunmen fired indiscriminately at the truck heading towards Peshawar. "Driver of the lorry died on the spot while one helper was injured," Khan said. "The attackers managed to flee." Separately, a political activist of the Awami National Party (ANP) was killed on Sunday in a roadside bombing in the north-west Swat Valley. "Mukarram Shah was killed on the spot when his vehicle hit an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) in Banjot area of Swat," said Ghafur Khan, a police official told by phone.
