Thirteen soldiers were killed Friday when the Taliban militants attacked an outpost in eastern Afghanistan, an official said. According to dpa, "the outpost was attacked early today in Nari district of Kunar province," General Mohammad Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Afghan Defence Ministry said, without elaborating. Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying their fighters had "captured the outpost."
