The recent rhetoric out of North Korea is “unacceptable," and the United States will defend itself as well as South Korea and Japan from any threat from Pyongyang, Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday. Kerry told reporters at the State Department alongside South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se that the amount of hostile language from North Korea in recent weeks was “extraordinary" and that the isolated country should have no doubt that the United States will fulfill its treaty obligations to its allies in the region. North Korea announced Tuesday that it would quickly begin “readjusting and restarting" facilities at its main Nyongbyon nuclear complex, including the plutonium reactor and a uranium enrichment plant, both of which could produce fuel for nuclear weapons.
