Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said today that the future of oil is still prosperous even in light of difficult global economic situations. "The expectations of energy demand and growth are still positive. With volatility of demand for crude oil as always, it is still strong, especially in the current circumstances," Al-Naimi added. This came in Al-Naimi's speech during the opening session of Doha Energy Forum organized by Brookings Centre and was inaugurated by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha today. Al-Naimi talked about the development of the global energy market and said: "The global energy market has been developed since the beginning of my career in the oil industry, and I think that the GCC countries have witnessed significant shifts during that period. Qatar is today the world's biggest source of natural gas liquids. There are other examples of economic progress in the GCC Member States." He added that energy supplies from the GCC countries during several decades have contributed to supporting economic growth in the United States and Europe. "It is clear that the global energy industry has become more complex. Petroleum has retained its coaxial stature while gas increasingly became an important element in this context," Al-Naimi added. --More 18:40 LOCAL TIME 15:40 GMT تغريد
