Saleh Al-Othaimeen announced the winners of the Prize in its various branches. The Crown Prince handed over the prizes to the winners. The Prize for the service of Islam was awarded to Sheikh Raed Salah Mahajneh. The Prize for Arabic Language and Literature was awarded to the Arabic Language Academy in Cairo and was handed over to the Academy's President Dr. Hassan El-Shafie'. The Prize for Medicine was co-shared by Professor Jeffrey Michael Friedman and Professor Douglas Leonard Coleman. The Prize for Science was awarded to Professor Paul B. Corkum and Professor Ferenc Krausz. In their speeches, the winners praised the officials in charge of the Prize, expressing their pride in winning it. They commended the Prize for encouraging specialists, researchers, scientists, innovators and scientific and applied institutions and for appreciating their achievements, stressing the importance of King Faisal International Prize and its supreme status.
