Israeli settlements not constructive, Obama says

Israeli settlement activity in the West Bank is
not constructive or appropriate, and cannot advance the cause of
peace, dpa quoted US President Barack Obama as saying Thursday.
At the same time, the president acknowledged that placing the
issue at the forefront of negotiations between Israelis and
Palestinians was wrong.
