China is ready to work with the United States to advance the partnership between the two countries, President Xi Jinping told the visiting US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew Tuesday in Beijing, reports said. Xi praised the results of relations with the US over the last three decades, saying they promoted peace in the Asia-Pacific region and the wider world, the official Xinhua news agency reported. "I attach great importance to China-US relations," said Xi, who was appointed President of China last week. Lew said the two countries should increase their cooperation in economics and strategic affairs and deal with their differences properly. He added that the world's two largest economies had a duty to ensure global growth that is strong, sustainable and balanced. Lew was on the first day of a two-day visit to China.
