Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held talks Tuesday aimed at strengthening ties and boosting trade and investment between their countries. Singh said the talks were "very productive, marked by the warmth and friendship that characterized the special nature of the relationship" shared by the countries. President Morsi said Egypt and India should forge a strategic relationship and the best way to do that would be by strengthening bilateral trade. Trade between the countries reached $5.5 billion in the past year, making IndiaEgypt's seventh-largest trading partner, he was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. The two countries also signed seven agreements, including ones on cyber-security, information technology, space and education. President Morsi, who is on a three-day official visit to India, was accompanied by several ministers and a large business delegation. The Egyptian President will meet Indian business leaders to try to woo Indian companies to invest in his country.
