Heads of agencies of combating corruption and safeguarding integrity of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries held here today their first meeting under the chairmanship of President of Saudi Arabia's National Anti-corruption Commission, Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al-Sharif. In an address at the meeting, Al-Sharif called for increasing activation of cooperation, coordination, consultation and exchange of information among agencies involved in combating corruption and safeguarding integrity of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. For his part, GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani stressed the growing threat of corruption at both the international and regional levels which made the UN to adopt the United Nations Convention against Corruption in 2003 in order to coordinate international efforts to combat corruption.
