India's Foreign Ministry has summoned the Charge d'Affaires of Sri Lanka in New Delhi to protest Sri Lanka's keeping 53 Indian fishermen in custody over the last two days off the Sri Lankan shores. "Asian Edge" newspaper quoted Indian minister of Foreign affairs Salman Khorshid as telling the Indian parliament that his government has demanded the prompt release of the fishermen and urged the Sri Lankan navy to demonstrate self-constraint, good treatment and not to resort to violence under any circumstance. Khorshid said India and Sri Lanka are currently engaged in talks to guarantee the continuation of fishermen from the two sides to get their means of living freely.
