U.S. stocks closed lower Monday with the Dow and S&P 500 suffering their biggest one-day declines of the year. The dollar fell versus the euro, the pound, and the yen. Light sweet crude oil for April delivery lost 2 cents to $93.11 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures gained $13.80 to $1,586.60 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 216.4, or 1.55 percent, to 13,784.17. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 27.75, or 1.83 percent, to 1,487.85. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index dropped 45.57, or 1.44 percent, to 3,116.25.
