An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 jolted Tochigi Prefecture in eastern Japan and its vicinity on Monday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. No tsunami warning was issued following the 4:23 p.m. quake, which registered upper 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7. The focus of the quake was in northern Tochigi at a depth of about 10 kilometers, according to the agency quoted by Kyodo.
