Saudi Arabia, the first to sign the OIC International Treaty to combat terrorism in 2000, has made great strides in fighting the heinous phenomenon of terrorism through taking part in meetings in and contributions to Arab and International events, a report released here today said. The Kingdom was precedent to urge the international community to face terror and provided support for all peace-loving countries in their fight to dismantle terrorism. Such efforts were crowned with Saudi Arabia's hosting the International Conference on Facing terrorism which was held in Riyadh in February 2005 with the participation of more than 50 Arab, Islamic and international countries. Under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was able to forge a firm position in taking action against terrorism. Emanating from its unquestioned belief that terrorism is a dangerous international problem that necessitates a collective stance by the world community, it has followed a two-pronged domestic level fight against terrorism. They are the security and preventive dealing. --More
