Two Azerbaijani soldiers were killed in its restive Nagorno-Karabakh region by an Armenian sniper, dpa cited Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry as saying Tuesday. One of the soldiers was shot near the village of Kuropatkino, the ministry said, without providing information on the second soldier's death. Azerbaijan and Armenia have long disputed the status of the Azerbaijani province Nagorno-Karabakh, an ethnic Armenian enclave that obtained de facto independence from Baku in a 1994 ceasefire agreement. Yerevan supports the territory's independence while Baku considers it a renegade province.
