At least 25 people died in an explosion at the headquarters of the state oil company, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), in the centre of Mexico City, the interior secretary said late Thursday according to dpa. Thursday's blast at the 54-storey building injured 101 and sent 46 to hospital, Miguel Angel Osorio Chong said outside the high rise, adding that rescue workers were searching for more people in the rubble at the base of the structure. One person had been rescued from the debris, he said. The cause of the blast in the basement at 3:45 pm (2145 GMT) was not immediately known. Osorio Chong announced an investigation while Pemex sources alluded to the overheating of the building's airconditioning. Some witnesses said there had been two explosions.
