Ivory Coast became the first team to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals after convincingly beating Tunisia 3-0 in Rustenburg on Saturday, according to dpa. The Elephants were rampant in the first half, Gervinho driving the ball home from near Tunisian goalkeeper Moez Ben Cherifa's right post in the 21st minute after a one-two with Lacina Toure, who had replaced Didier Drogba in the starting line-up. Tunisia showed more composure in second half but the Ivory Coast were always in with a chance of adding to their lead. Yaya Toure stepped up with a fine shot from outside the area in the 88th minute that left Cherifa dead and buried to end the match as a contest. German-based midfielder Didier Ya Konan added to the Carthage Eagles' misery as he slid the ball home in the 90th minute to complete the rout before a buzzing Royal Bafokeng Stadium. Ivory Coast now move to the top of group D with six points, with Togo and Algeria to play later on Sunday evening.
