Britain is unlikely to ever become a eurozone member, British Prime Minister David Cameron said Thursday in Davos, a day after a key speech setting out his country's future in the European Union, dpa reported. Moves towards centralizing banking and fiscal policies in the EU had great implications for countries such as Britain, "who are not in the euro and frankly are never likely to join," he said at the World Economic Forum. He also defended his plan for a British referendum on EU membership: "This is not about turning our backs on Europe. Quite the opposite, this is about how we make the case for a more competitive, a more open, a more flexible Europe, and how we secure the EU's place within it."
