Japan logged a record trade deficit of 6.93 trillion yen (78.3 billion dollars) in 2012 as exports fell on strained ties with China and the eurozone debt crisis, dpa cited the government as saying Thursday. Shipments for the export-reliant economy declined 2.7 per cent to 63.7 trillion yen last year, while imports grew 3.8 per cent to 70.7 trillion yen, the Finance Ministry said. In December, Japan posted its sixth-straight monthly trade deficit at 641.5 yen, the ministry said.
