U.S. President Barack Obama will be privately sworn-in for his second term as president in a brief, sparsely attended ceremony at the White House next Sunday, spokesman Jay Carney said Tuesday. Carney told reporters that Supreme Court Justice John Roberts will administer the oath of office shortly before 12 p.m. Washington time, as required by the Constitution. The president's family will attend, as well as a few reporters. Obama is not expected to make a speech. The Constitution requires the president be sworn in on January 20, but since that falls on a Sunday this year, Obama will have two ceremonies: the private one on Sunday and a larger, public ceremony Monday that will be followed by a parade. Officials expect 600,000 to 800,000 people to attend the public ceremony in front of the U.S. Capitol.
