The death toll from a landslide in south-western China rose to 44 Saturday as the bodies of the last two missing residents were retrieved, rescuers said. Official Xinhua news agency quoted local officials saying that 27 adults and 19 children were buried by the landslide in the Zhaojiagou area of Yunnan province Friday. More than 1,000 rescue workers had joined the search for the victims in freezing temperatures as the ground continued to shift, officials were quoted as saying by DPA.
