A landslide in south-western China early Friday killed at least eight people and left dozens missing, officials said according to dpa. Up to 40 people were unaccounted for, police in Zhenxiong county in Yunnan province said by phone. The landslide buried 16 houses in Gaopo village, 550 kilometres north-east of the provincial capital, Kunming, police said. It occurred at 8:20 am (0200 GMT), the official Xinhua news agency reported.
