He explained the logic behind the importance of the prize as it reflects the organic relation between water and each of food, health, energy and environment. He also drew the line between water and national security. Then the Crown Prince handed over the prizes to winners, congratulating them on winning the prize and wishing them every success. The prize was awarded to the University of Berkely's scientific team, led by Dr. Ashok Gadgill in the branch of innovation; the scientific team, led by Dr. Keven Trenbirth of the U.S. National Center for Atmosphere in the branch of surface water; the scientific team, led by Dr. Charles Franklin Harvey of the Massachusets Institutue for Technology in the branch of artisan water; Dr. Mohammed Khayat Suhaimi of the University of Complotensi in Madrid, Spain, in the branch of substitute water resources and Dr. Damia Barchelo of Katalan Institute for Water, Spain, in the management and protection of water branch.
