Taliban militants shot dead three Afghan police and injured four others after the officer on watch allowed insurgents into a compound, dpa cited officials as saying Thursday. The officer on night duty late Wednesday let the gunmen into the police post in Trinkot, the provincial capital of the southern province of Uruzgan, the governor's spokesman Abdullah Hemat said. "The policeman had contacts with Taliban and while on his guarding duty, he called the Taliban and attacked the outpost together with his friends," Hemat said. The officer who had helped the militants had fled, a security source in the province said on condition of anonymity.
