The Kingdom of Bahrain will host on Monday and Tuesday, December 24-25, the 33rd session of the Supreme Council of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States. On this occasion, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) highlighted in its report today the achievements made so far by the Council since its first session held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates in 1981 in political, economic, security, military, educational and other fields. The GCC leaders welcomed the proposal of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in his opening speech to the 32nd session of the Supreme Council held in Riyadh, 19 December 2011 on transition from cooperation to the Union stage. The GCC leaders have sought to strengthen the GCC foundations to achieve the ambitions and aspirations of their peoples through cooperation and coordination in various economic, political, social, educational, scientific, media, environmental, sports and youth and others to achieve the aspirations and hopes of the leaders of the Council to move to the stage of union. The GCC leaders continue at this session their works to increase cooperation and coordination in various economic, political, security, social, and educational fields to enhance the march of progress and prosperity being witnessed by GCC States in all fields to meet the ambitions of their citizens. The GCC march has achieved over more than three decades gigantic achievements in various fields, with regard to their citizens in all fields starting from the unification of their political positions at international forums on just issues adopted by GCC States and their interests in the establishment of joint institutions for productive projects. --More
