Park Guen Hye looked set to become South Korea's first female president after several national TV networks Wednesday reported she had narrowly defeated her rival. Based on a count of 80 per cent of the vote had 51.5 per cent of the vote, compared with her rival Moon Jae In, on 48 per cent, reported KBS TV. A joint exit poll by the country's three major broadcasters forecast that Park would eventually emerge the winner with 50.1 per cent of the vote against Moon's 48.9 per cent, the Yonhap news agency reported. Park was to visit her Saenuri Party's headquarters to meet party officials, and then head to Gwanghwamun in the centre of Seoul to make a public speech late Wednesday.
