The vast Nafud desert fields witnessed over the past two days heavy attendance by participants in the festival of King Abdulaziz Pageantry Award For Camels at its 13th session. The attendance also included lovers of desert nature and photography who flocked in the early hours of the morning to Um Ruqaibah from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and abroad to enjoy the atmosphere of the desert, and watch dozens of local species of camels. Um Ruqaibah also witnessed the influx of thousands of interested visitors and observers of the festival of Um Ruqaibah for pageant camels, to watch the popular market of camels, cattle and heritage exhibits, as well as exhibits and handmade textiles offered by artisans in the market. The crowds enhanced the pace of sale and purchase of camels at varying prices in the popular market. Last week, the Pageantry parade of 2,016 yellow camels was held in the desert of Um Ruqaibah in front of the jury chaired by Prince Abdullah bin Saad bin Jalawi, the Chairman of the Festival's Jury of King Abdulaziz Prize for pageant Camels.
