Afghanistan's foreign minister kicked off talks with his Pakistani counterpart on Friday to further efforts aimed at reaching a negotiated end to the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan, officials said according to dpa. Zalmai Rassoul arrived in Islamabad two weeks after Pakistan freed at least nine Taliban leaders in an apparent move to convey its support for Kabul's peace process involving reconcilable Taliban figures. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said Rassoul and his counterpart, Hina Rabbani Khar, were discussing "regional peace and security," but did not give details of the agenda.
