Under the chairmanship of Lebanon, high-ranking officials of the foreign ministries of the Arab League member states, began discussing Arab position against a decision to postpone convening the UN-sponsored conference to make the Middle East a nuclear weapons-free zone, sine qua non, which was scheduled to take place next month in Helsinki, in accordance with a general conference held in 2010 to review the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty. In a press statement, on the sidelines of the meetings, the Director of Multi-partite Relations Department at the Arab League Wael Al-Assad said that the two-day meetings will discuss means to reply to the individual statements issued by those organizing parties, which decided to postpone the conference. -- SPA
