Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineer Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi said that the challenges facing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of energy is the optimal use of energy and maintain the economic and population growth, prosperity of citizens and meet their needs. He added that this fact makes it imperative to raise the efficiency of the annual consumption of traditional energy and maintain social welfare and reduce uses of oil in the coming years as the most important goals. This came in a speech Engineer Al-Naimi delivered during the opening of Saudi Electricity Efficiency Forum and Exhibition held in its second round at Al-Khozama Center in Riyadh this evening. For his part, the Minister of Water and Electricity Engineer Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Hasseen confirmed, in his opening speech of the Forum, that estimates indicate that the demand for electricity in the Kingdom during the next ten years will reach about 90.000 megawatts, requiring investments of about SR 500 billion in order to meet the electric demand growth rates in Saudi Arabia, which amounted to about 9% annually. The Saudi Electricity Efficiency Forum and Exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Water and Electricity.
