An envoy of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is to visit China, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. Bassam Al-Salhi, secretary-general of the Palestinian People's Party, was scheduled to hold talks with Chinese officials from Thursday to Saturday on the situation in Gaza and the Palestinian bid for non-member status at the United Nations, ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said. China has supported efforts to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and backed related diplomacy by Egypt and the Arab League, according to a report of DPA. Hua said China supported the "necessary action taken by the international community, including the UN Security Council."
