AlHijjah 26, 1433, Nov 11, 2012, SPA - An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale shook northern Myanmar Sunday, killing at least two people when a bridge collapsed, officials said. The quake that rattled buildings as far away as Bangkok was centered about 117 kilometres north of Mandalay, Myanmar's second most-populous city, and about 72 kilometres north of Shwebo township, according to US Geological Survey data and Myanmar officials were quoted as saying by DPA. At least 21 people were injured in Shwebo, where buildings and pagodas suffered damages, said the official who requested anonymity. Several buildings suffered minor damage in Mandalay, including the 25-storey Zay-cho Building that closed Sunday. The quake struck at 7:42 am (01:12 GMT).
