AlHijjah 25, 1433, Nov 10, 2012, SPA -- The electorate in the US presidential battleground of Florida has also swung its weight behind President Barack Obama, delayed final results showed Saturday. The results from the state with a history of close calls came four days after the rest of the country overwhelmingly returned Obama for another four-year-term. The addition of Florida's hefty 29 electoral votes for Obama brought his total to 332 in the electoral college - a definitive triumph over Republican Mitt Romney, who took only 206 electoral votes. Obama clinched Florida with a margin of 73,858 votes, or 50.01 per cent, according to the unofficial results posted by the Florida Department of State. Obama had a large enough lead of 0.88 per cent over Romney to avoid a recount, which would have been triggered by an 0.5 per cent or less difference. The electors will meet formally on December 17 in their respective state capitals to cast the final ballots. The votes will be officially counted on January 6 in a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives. Obama, the country's 44th president, will be inaugurated for his second term on January 21 - only the 14th president in US history to be elected to at least two full terms in office.
