Shahrani, then, delivered the Defense Ministry's speech in which he said, "It is an honor for the Kingdom to organize this seminar as the first outside the United States, and this proves beyond any doubt that the Kingdom enjoys a prominent place and high respect by the great powers in all aspects in general and the political and the military side in particular. He stressed that the Kingdom remains committed to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) as it is a country of peace, stressing at the same time that the Kingdom is working on a strategy for a national program for the peaceful use of atomic energy as an alternative source of energy. He indicated that the seminar will witness during its five-day duration the formation of working groups, panel discussions and training exercises to promote the exchange of ideas among participants on nuclear security and coordination with various parties on the regional and international levels.
