AlHijjah 5, 1433, Oct 21, 2012, SPA -- Pakistan has broken the Guinness World Record for the most people singing a national anthem, media reports said Sunday, snatching the title earned by rival India months earlier. Thousands of people sang the anthem at a hockey stadium in the eastern city of Lahore late Saturday to open a provincial youth festival, the Express Tribune newspaper reported, according to dpa. Applause broke out when Guinness World Records' adjudicator Gareth eaves announced that the assembled singers had set a new record. A total of 42,813 people sang the anthem simultaneously, according to the official, beating the 15,243 mustered by an Indian crowd this year. It was just one of several Guinness records Pakistanis set over the weekend. -- SPA
